Illinois Seeking Public Comments on Mental Health Plan


The Illinois Mental Health Planning and Advisory Council and the DHS Division of Mental Health invite you to comment on the DHS Division of Mental Health’s FY 2011 Block Grant plan to provide services that help build resilience and foster recovery of individuals with mental illness.

The Division of Mental Health of the Illinois Department of Human Services is currently drafting its annual federal block grant application to the SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS). The application outlines Illinois’ plan for the provision of mental health services to adults, adolescents, and children in need of critical services to recover from severe mental illnesses or emotional disturbances.

Consumers, concerned family members and friends, service providers, and the general public, are encouraged to review the application. Comments, questions and ideas are welcomed. The draft application will be available for public comment through August 5th.
